A great, big “MAHALO!” to the Hawaii Children’s Discovery Center for inviting the 2010 Hawaii Robofest teams to showcase their projects and games in early April (Sunday, April 11, 2010). Special thanks to Loretta Yajima (HICDC Executive Director) and Liane Usher (HICDC Program Director) for their gracious invitation and support. This is the third year that the Hawaii Robofest program has exhibited projects at the Center.
This year’s event featured autonomous robotic challenges and exhibits as well as special projects. “The Global Ahupua’a,” a biodiversity theme, challenged students to explore life forms in an ecosystem – how living things depend on each other to evolve.
Tournament sponsors included the University of Hawaii College of Engineering, isisHawaii (official site host) and Highlands Intermediate School. Lead Robofest program coordinator, Mr. Dwayne Abuel, and volunteer, Ms. Gayle Loui, coordinated the local kickoff and tournament, trained coaches and provided team support.
