In early August, the Hawaii FIRST LEGO® League (HFLL) held its first clinic of the 2010 season. Sponsored by Women in Technology/MEDB, this is the fourth annual statewide clinic series developed to assist new and veteran coaches on the many aspects of this popular scholastic robotics program for young students.
In addition to its traditional introductory format, a second tier was incorporated to provide advanced training for veteran coaches. The trainers assisted Level II participants in taking a closer look at the research and innovation project component of the HFLL program as well as advanced training in sensors. Over 120 coaches on 6 different islands registered for the series.
Special thanks to lead trainer and HFLL President, Sara Tamayose, and her team of Junior Trainers: Anna Pidong, Nina Duong, Nic Hamamoto, Erik Okamura, Bryn Okamura and Megan Watanabe.
Thanks also to Blaine Kashiwaeda (HFLL District Tournament Coordinator) and the Ala Moana Center LEGO® Store staff for volunteering, too!
